The Five-Star Weekend Is Five-Star Summer Escapism

“Creator Bekah Brunstetter (Sirens, Maid) has gift-wrapped a treat for our summer delectation, to be binged with glasses of ice-diluted white wine in hand.“

Peacock’s “The Five-Star Weekend” Is Way More Than Pedestrian Housewife Melodrama

“More than powering the plot, though, the show’s focus on the regular problems people face – when to switch careers, how to deal with loss, how to trust yourself – is downright refreshing, particularly given the cast’s female focus.”

The Ultimate Beach Read Is Now TV’s Juiciest Melodrama

".. the series is a polished entry in the ever-expanding collection of women-centered streaming dramas that mix the ominous and the salacious with the luxurious and the beautiful.”

The Five-Star Weekend: Familiar comfort is the point of this escapist drama

"Jennifer Garner leads this stacked ensemble of Chloë Sevigny, Regina Hall, Gemma Chan, D’Arcy Carden, Timothy Olyphant. Judy Greer and Harlow Jane, all bringing a different but synchronous energy to the series. It’s a really well cast show, and that’s a big part of why it works as well as it does."

Jennifer Garner Delivers an All-Time Great Performance in 'The Five Star Weekend'

"Garner is doing something really tricky here, and she makes it look so easy. Hollis has to be a woman playing the tradwife dream while crumbling inside, and Garner lets you see both layers at once.

‘The Five Star Weekend’ is a love letter to female friendship with a starry cast

“Based on Elin Hilderbrand’s 2023 novel, the eight-episode series delivers a warm, gentle, moving exploration of female friendship that would feel right at home on Hallmark, Lifetime, or a Netflix show like “Sweet Magnolias.” But it’s elevated by an all-star cast including Jennifer Garner, Regina Hall, Chloë Sevigny, and Gemma Chan. It turns out you can make a “Big Little Lies” without all the murder and subterfuge.”

‘The Five Star Weekend’ Review: Jennifer Garner Is a Lovable Lead in Peacock’s Winning Elin Hilderbrand Adaptation

".. set on Nantucket and focused on a well-to-do creative type — Jennifer Garner’s newly widowed food influencer, Hollis Shaw — “Five Star Weekend” creates a chic yet cozy world filled with relatably flawed and likable characters."

A Review of ‘The Five-Star Weekend’

"Because grief is a huge deal in a person’s life and can and will change them fundamentally, and being honest about that… prepares us better for what lies ahead when we face it. Which is why a new show on Peacock is of note and is one to be excited about. Because The Five-Star Weekend showcases grief, loss, and healing in the raw. "

Big Little Lies-lite? This Jennifer Garner drama is sunnier than expected

“Avoiding the trope of a mysterious murder, it’s a relatively quaint story by TV’s standards, focused more on character dynamics than shocking twists.”

Jennifer Garner’s Beachy Series ‘The Five-Star Weekend’ Has Big Names and Refreshingly Modest Stakes: TV Review

We Can Have a Little Five Star Weekend, As a Treat

“We watch them let loose. We watch them eat. We watch them laugh. We watch them live, and that’s such a departure from the grim depths to which women’s TV has sunk that it makes The Five Star Weekend worth the trip.”
